Arsenical Copper (C14700)

Arsenical Copper C14700 is a high-purity copper alloy containing a small, controlled addition of arsenic (typically 0.02–0.10%). This minor alloying element significantly improves resistance to corrosion in aggressive water and steam environments.

Unlike brasses and bronzes, C14700 retains copper’s excellent thermal and electrical conductivity while offering superior resistance to erosion–corrosion, making it a preferred material for condenser and heat exchanger service.

Strengthening & Metallurgical Behavior

C14700 is a solid-solution strengthened copper alloy. Arsenic dissolves uniformly in the copper matrix and stabilizes protective oxide films on the surface.

✔ Suppresses erosion–corrosion
✔ Prevents selective leaching
✔ Improves resistance to impingement attack
✔ Slightly increases strength without embrittlement

Mechanical properties are controlled by cold working and temper; no precipitation hardening is involved.
