Polyurea Grease is a high-performance, non-soap thickened lubricating grease formulated using a polyurea thickener system and carefully selected mineral or synthetic base oils.
Unlike conventional soap-based greases such as lithium, calcium, or aluminum, polyurea grease relies on organic polyurea chemistry, which delivers exceptional oxidation resistance, long service life, and superior thermal stability.
Because of these properties, polyurea grease is widely recognized as the preferred grease for sealed-for-life bearings, electric motor lubrication, and high-temperature, low-maintenance applications where relubrication is difficult or undesirable.
Composition & Chemistry
1. Base Oil
Polyurea grease is formulated using high-quality mineral oil, synthetic oil (PAO),
or blended base oils, typically in the ISO VG 100–150 range at 40°C.
Base oil selection directly impacts lubricating film strength, noise reduction, oxidation resistance, and low-temperature start-up behavior.
2. Thickener – Polyurea (Non-Soap System)
The polyurea thickener is formed by reacting amines and isocyanates, creating an
ashless, non-metallic structure with no soap content.
This chemistry delivers extremely high oxidation resistance, excellent mechanical and shear stability, very high dropping point (above 250°C), minimal oil bleed, and exceptionally long grease life.
3. Additive System
Polyurea grease typically requires a mild additive system because the thickener
itself provides inherent stability.
Additives may include anti-wear agents, rust and corrosion inhibitors, antioxidants, and noise-reduction agents for electric motor applications. Extreme-pressure additives are used cautiously to avoid electrical or bearing damage.
Key Performance Characteristics
Exceptional High-Temperature Performance
Supports continuous operation up to 180°C, with premium grades tolerating
intermittent exposure up to 200°C without grease breakdown.
Outstanding Oxidation & Thermal Resistance
Polyurea structure resists oxidation better than lithium greases, making it ideal
for long-life and sealed bearings with reduced varnish and sludge formation.
Excellent Shear & Mechanical Stability
Maintains consistency under high speed, vibration, and load, ensuring a stable
lubrication film in electric motors and rotating equipment.
Water & Moisture Resistance
Provides strong resistance to water washout and protects bearings from moisture-
induced corrosion in humid or damp environments.
Low Noise & Smooth Operation
Smooth texture and controlled oil release reduce vibration and noise, making
polyurea grease highly preferred for electric motor bearings.
Superior Rust & Corrosion Protection
Forms a stable protective film on metal surfaces, preventing corrosion during idle
periods or equipment shutdown.
Material Compatibility
Compatible with steel, bearing alloys, and most elastomers and plastics.
Mixing with other grease types is not recommended without compatibility testing.
