Spike LNG, also referred to as Fuel-Grade LNG, is a high-purity liquefied natural gas engineered specifically for direct fuel applications across industrial, commercial, and transportation sectors.
It is produced by refining natural gas to remove moisture, sulfur compounds, carbon dioxide, heavy hydrocarbons, and other contaminants, followed by liquefaction at approximately –162°C.
The result is a stable, high-energy, cryogenic liquid fuel with excellent combustion efficiency, consistent calorific value, and extremely low emissions—widely adopted as a cleaner alternative to diesel, furnace oil, LPG, and coal-based fuels.
Composition & Quality Profile
Fuel-Grade LNG consists predominantly of methane (CH₄), optimized for direct combustion rather than pipeline injection.
Typical Composition:
Methane (CH₄): 90–99%
Ethane (C₂H₆): 1–6%
Propane & heavier hydrocarbons: <1%
Nitrogen (N₂): <1%
CO₂: <50 ppm
Water (H₂O): <1 ppm
Sulfur Compounds (H₂S): <4 ppm
These specifications ensure stable ignition, reduced maintenance, corrosion-free systems, and long equipment life.
Key Characteristics
High Methane Content
Ensures uniform combustion, higher thermal efficiency, and minimal engine knocking.
Ultra-Low Impurities
Low moisture, sulfur, and CO₂ prevent hydrate formation, corrosion, and emissions issues.
High Calorific Value
Delivers 45–55 MJ/kg, offering superior usable energy compared to conventional liquid fuels.
Environment-Friendly Fuel
~25–40% lower CO₂ than diesel
Up to 90% lower NOx
Near-zero SOx and particulate matter
Cryogenic Stability
Maintains stable physical and chemical properties under cryogenic storage and transport.

Storage, Handling & Safety
Stored in vacuum-insulated cryogenic tanks designed for –162°C operation.
Safety systems include pressure relief valves, gas detection sensors, emergency shut-off systems, and controlled boil-off gas management.
LNG is non-toxic, non-corrosive, and only flammable when vaporized and mixed with air within specific limits.
