Type 1-K Kerosene is a highly refined, low-sulfur petroleum distillate designed for applications where clean combustion, low odor, and operational safety are critical. It represents the highest grade of consumer and industrial kerosene, produced through advanced hydro-treating and desulfurization processes to remove sulfur compounds, aromatics, moisture, and particulates. With sulfur content typically below 0.04% by weight, Type 1-K kerosene meets stringent environmental and safety standards, making it suitable for indoor heating, lighting, and sensitive industrial equipment. Its balanced volatility and stable chemical composition ensure reliable ignition, consistent flame characteristics, and extended equipment life.
Refining & Production Process
Type 1-K kerosene is produced from middle-distillate fractions of crude oil using the following steps:
1.Atmospheric Distillation
Crude oil is fractionated to isolate the kerosene boiling range (approx. 150–300°C).
2.Hydrotreating / Hydrodesulfurization (HDS)
Sulfur compounds, nitrogen compounds, and aromatics are removed using hydrogen and catalysts under controlled temperature and pressure.
3.Water Separation & Filtration
Final polishing removes dissolved water, sediments, and trace contaminants.
4.Quality Stabilization
Antioxidants and stabilizers may be added to improve storage life and combustion stability.
Key Characteristics
Low Sulfur Content (<0.04%)
Reduces formation of sulfur dioxide (SO₂) during combustion
Minimizes odor, smoke, and corrosion
Complies with indoor air quality requirements
Reduced maintenance frequency
Clean-Burning Nature
High smoke point ensures steady, non-flickering flame
Lower fire hazard compared to gasoline or naphtha
Reduced maintenance frequency
High Flash Point (38–72°C)
Lower fire hazard compared to gasoline or naphtha
Safer storage and transportation
Suitable for residential and commercial environments
Thermal Stability
Maintains consistent combustion across a wide temperature range
Performs reliably in both warm and cold climates
Low Aromatic Content
Less toxic emissions
Lower odor intensity during ignition and operation
This refining process results in a clear, water-white fuel with predictable performance characteristics.
