Yellow Brass – Grades C27000 / C27200

Yellow Brass Grades C27000 (65/35 brass) and C27200 (63/37 brass) are high-zinc wrought brass alloys known for their bright yellow appearance and excellent balance of strength, ductility, corrosion resistance, and formability.

These alloys sit at the transition between α-brass (high ductility) and α + β brass (higher strength), making them highly versatile for fabrication, forming, and general engineering applications.

Metallurgical Characteristics

Predominantly α-phase with limited β-phase (especially C27200)
Good combination of ductility and strength
Strengthening via solid solution (Zn in Cu)
Cold working improves strength and hardness
Annealing restores ductility

Not heat-treat hardenable by precipitation methods.

Available Forms

Sheets and plates
Coils and strips
Rods and bars
Wires
Extrusions
Tubes and pipes

Thickness range: 0.2 mm to 50 mm (depending on product form)

Typical Applications

General fabrication and forming
Plumbing and sanitary components (non-potable)
Architectural and decorative panels
Electrical and mechanical components
Stampings, deep-drawn and rolled parts

Advantages

✔ Bright yellow decorative appearance
✔ Excellent formability and ductility
✔ Good corrosion resistance in atmospheric conditions
✔ Balanced strength for fabrication
✔ Widely available and cost-effective

Why Choose C27000 / C27200 Yellow Brass?

C27000 and C27200 are preferred when a versatile, easy-to-form brass is required with good mechanical strength and an attractive finish.

They are industry-standard grades for wrought yellow brass products used across plumbing, fabrication, architectural, and general engineering sectors.

Quick Comparison

GradeCu %Zn %Key Feature
C27000~65~35Higher ductility
C27200~63~37Higher strength

Design Note:
Choose C27000 for maximum formability and deep drawing, and C27200 when slightly higher strength is required without sacrificing manufacturability.
